MEMBERSHIP DRIVE & CELEBRATION
New Officers for Mid-Suffolk NOW Chapter will be installed on Saturday,
August 28th, at the Unitarian Fellowship, Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, 10 AM to
Noon; Free Celebration of the anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the
Bill of Rights – Women’s Right to Vote: “The rights of citizens of the United States
to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account
of sex.”
“Iron Jawed Angels”, award-winning film featuring Oscar-winner, Hilary
Swank, dramatizing the struggle for the vote will be shown, followed by
refreshments. Join in open discussion with President, Margaret Maier (Bohemia), Vice
President, Chris McDougal (Port Jefferson), Secretary, Lois Byalick (Lake Grove),
Treasurer, Gail Segui (Port Jefferson Station).
Mid-Suffolk Chapter of NOW, National Organization for Women, was
convened by faculty and students of Stony Brook University in the early ‘70’s and has
been working ever since for equality before the law .
