It is estimated that 93,000 children on Long Island go to bed hungry each night, a statistic that should inspire all of us into action. I believe we can make a difference in the lives of fellow Long Islanders, which is why I am sponsoring a food drive to benefit Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank, a Hauppauge-based anti-hunger organization founded in 1980 by the late singer/activist Harry Chapin. Long Island Cares works for the benefit of the hungry on Long Island, and provides emergency food where and when it is needed. I will be participating in this crucial endeavor as a food drive drop-off site, and encourage the public to stop by my agency with non-perishable food items during the months of July and August.
