ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is seeking local families to host boys and girls between the ages of 15- 18 from a variety of countries around the world. Students come to practice their English and experience American Culture. Students have their own pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident and liability insurance. They are academically selected and host families can choose students from a wide variety of backgrounds, countries and personal interests. Donations ALWAYS needed & can be dropped off and left on the porch or in the bins on the porch. NEED: Peanut butter, jelly, cereal, canned fruit/fruit cups, pork n beans AND all toiletries for men, women & children(diapers) as food stamps can only be used towards actual food items It is run by volunteers of the local Smithtown Churches and food donations provided by the community. The food pantry is for those that are in need or having difficulty making ends meet. Open to anyone and anyone can go and receive FREE food like boxes of pasta, baby food, cereal-mostly dry good items and based upon the size of your family is how the quantity is determined. Land and Sea Sports Club, Inc.'s mission is to provide children on the Autism Spectrum and other develomental disabilities a unique opportunity to participate in land and sea sports programs in an inclusive setting. These benefits include, but are not limited to, aquisition of new skills, improving social skills, fostering pragmatic language skills, increasing focus/attending skills, and sensory integration. We started hangPROUD.com two years ago and recently our PROUDgirls on the MOVE program. We're a community of girls and women who are embracing our unique beauty and inner strength and using our power to make a difference in our communities and the world. Our recent PGOM program consists of 10 local Long Island high school girls who are making a big difference in their community. They recently raised enough donations to make over 1000 sandwiches/bagged lunched to help feed the hungry. in the kNOw is a dedicated task force comprised of parents, students, Kings Park school administrators, Suffolk County elected officials, the United States Drug Enforcement Authority and the Suffolk County Police Department.

Nesconset Taxpayers Association: The NTA deals with community issues. The NTA has helped form several Community Watch Groups in the Nesconset area and has set up many meetings over the years to deal with various issues in our community. They recently had several meetings with the 4th Precinct and public safety over the drug issues which are plaguing our community. Flyer | FAQ's Family, Friends & Community coming together as ONE Serving the Entire Smithtown Community We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to The Branch Brook Childrens Foundation which was inspired by Kaylee Rivers, a Branch Brook Elementary student who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in June 2008. We initially came together to help a family in need but we soon realized as we pooled our resources that we were building something that could help others as well. It is our hope that this foundation will empower the entire Smithtown community to come together to help friends and neighbors when illness or unforeseen circumstances arise. We have filed for emergency 501c3 not-for-profit status with the IRS and are awaiting final approval. Once this occurs, it will give us the ability to become an immediate resource to help those in need and for those who wish to fundraise.
Our mission will be to provide financial and emotional support to children & families within our Smithtown community by bridging family, friends, neighbors & local businesses to act as ONE in times of crisis. As our mission statement suggests, we need community involvement for our very existence. Accordingly, we are asking for your help in securing local business and corporate sponsorships. We are confident that over the next year, we will have established sponsorships, both monetarily and in products and services. At this time, we have already held several successful fundraisers specifically pertaining to the Rivers Family (a golf tournament at the Hamlet and a dinner/dance at the Watermill). We have also begun the process of putting together fundraisers to raise money for the foundation in order to get a head start on any future needs that may arise within Smithtown. The first of these was our First Annual Holiday Breakfast hosted by Maureens Kitchen. Please understand that we cannot do this alone. We are asking for each school (elementary, middle and high schools) within the district to help us find a BBCF committee chairman and committee members to represent their respective schools. We are asking the High School Advisors to make their clubs aware of our existence as their students look for recipients to fundraise for and to pass along that we can help your students achieve their community service goals. We are also looking for lawyers and accountants (especially any with not-for-profit experience) to be on our advisory board.The founders are all Smithtown residents with children who attend Smithtown schools. Two graduated from Smithtown High Schools and another moved here just over five years ago to make a better life with her family. We have prior experience in the business world and have all have/had careers in diverse fields, one holds a doctorate in Cardiovascular/Metabolics, another is an AP Chemistry teacher, and one is a former VP from Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse investment banks. We own private businesses and are active as in our community as PTA volunteers and Girl Scout leaders. If you are interested in becoming involved, or if you are just curious, please contact any of us below and be on the lookout for an upcoming community meeting to be held in the spring. The Smithtown Youth Bureau is responsible for planning and supporting programs and opportunities for young people and their families. Youth projects are researched and developed with the assistance of the Town Youth Board and young people on a Youth Council.
The Youth Bureau administers the Parent Resource Center, offering support and education to parents. These programs are funded by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, The Suffolk County Youth Bureau and the Town of Smithtown
