 Summer Concert Series at the Smithtown Library

Sixth Annual outdoor Family Summer Concert Series will be held on Thursday evenings on the front lawn of the Smithtown Library at 8:00 pm. In case of inclement weather, please call the Library at 265-2072 ext. 207 AFTER 3:00 pm on the date of the concert for an update. You can also go to the Library's website at www.smithlib.org for more concert information.

Volunteer at your local Library

While young adults are often required to perform community service for school, clubs and religious organizations, many of them are not sure of how or where to get started. Fortunately, Long Island offers many opportunities for teens to volunteer! Check out some of these exciting prospects!

Things to do over the weekend

 Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay

Visit the home of our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. The property gives visitors access to over 80 acres of parkland, wildlife reserve and historic buildings. A guided tour of the house is only $5.00. Free for anyone 15 years old or younger.

     Sports Squirts
    Smithtown Recreation has teamed up with U.S.  Sports Institute to offer a Sports Squirts Camp. This camp is for children ages 3 - 5. The program is designed to introduce young children to a variety of sports in a safe and structured environment. The sports will include Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball, Hockey, Lacrosse, Parachute and Kids choice. The camp will be held at Veterans Memorial Park on Fridays from April 23rd - June 4th. Program times are 10:00 - 11:00 or 1:00 - 2:00. The cost is $115.00. For more information, please contact the recreation Department at 631-360-7644.
     
     
     

    The Edible Garden at the NY Botanical Garden

    This exhibit is now running through October 17th. It is all about how to grow and prepare great homegrown food. There are demonstations from food experts, gardens from around the world, seminars and four festival weekends. Festivals of flowers and food is on Sept. 25 and 26th and Family Harvest Festival is October 9 - October 11th.     The Legends of Smithtown

    The Smithtown Historical Society announces it new exhibit:
    Running of the Bull: Smithtown's Origins, Real and Imagined

    This exhibit will be open to the public as of Tuesday, January 19th. It will be running until August 2010. The exhibit is housed at the Caleb Smith House, 5 North Country Road. This exhibit is free of charge. Showing hoursare are Tuesday and Thursdays from Noon to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 - 2.
